But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.
Isaiah 40:31
Wait. Dwell. Meditate. Linger.
How have four such simple words become so counter-cultural?
We are a generation as beset as we are blessed by our own desire for progression. If things aren’t moving, we move them. If they won’t shift, we press to conform them to our will. This is not Gods way and us such his divine mechanisms are not set to suport it. It’s our desire, our impatience, our effort. And the result is our weariness, our disconsolation, our collapse in upon ourselves.
God is not against effort, he is for momentum, the notion of assisted energy. But its enablement only comes through God ordained process and that process begins with and is maintained by the wait. Why would we strive so hard in our own effort knowing full well the likely foolishness of it when God in his abundant goodness has given us unending sustained support if we only choose to abandon ourselves and operate in it.
Time spent with God, even in silence, brings ummatchable benefit whose depths cannot be plumbed.
Today church as you pray, I encourage you to stop striving in your own strength, wait upon the Lord, spend time in His presence, see what He has to say to you. Let His divine presence fill you with His divine energy. Not only will it enable you to do the impossible, it will make you feel better on the journey towards doing it.
Wait. Dwell. Meditate. Linger.
Love you church
