The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.
– Proverbs 11:24
Our heart given its own way will incline towards itself. It will hold rather than release, it will take against giving. And it will do so under many pretenses, some built to silence the voices of others , some to calm the voice of our own silent judgement or worry, and some because we have borne the idea that to hold is to increase.
The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. – Proverbs 11:23
But God is calling us to turn our heart outward, to upend this inclination towards self, to be generous in thought and deed. Indeed a generosity of heart and action increases us and the world around us.
Charles Spurgeon puts it like this “Faith’s way of gaining is giving. I must try this again and again, and I may expect that as much of prosperity as will be good for me will come to me as a gracious reward for a liberal course of action”
Let’s pray today church for a heart turned inside out. Let’s transform ourselves into generous people by the renewing of our minds and the reshaping of our hearts. I’m praying for you today that God will reveal the ways of generosity that will be good for you and those around you. The world desperately needs you to operate in generosity. And that accordingly he will shower you with the blessing and richness of life promised to those with a generous spirit and a generous hand.
Be blessed today as you pray church!
