“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Matthew 16:19
The keys to the kingdom of heaven. If one phrase should give us pause to give due reflection and honor to the notion that proceeds it, it is this one.
What is also revealing is the moment that precedes it. Peter has a revelation of who Jesus is. The Messiah. And for the first time, that divine thought that has been circling his mind and spirit since he began walking with Jesus surfaces and is given voice. He declares it openly.
We see then that kingdom authority, the capacity to open and close doors on earth and in the heavenlies comes from God revealing himself to us, bringing about an open acknowledgment and acceptance of who Christ is in us, and then is enacted by the power of our words here on earth.
Church, we have the capacity in our prayer to loose and bind in the physical and heavenly realm. You have things that God intends for your world that are currently bound and not released to you because you’ve not yet exercised your authority and utilized the keys to the kingdom.
Likewise there are elements of chaos and works of the devil that are going unchecked in our worlds, because we’ve either failed to recognize them for what they are or we haven’t taken up our right to deny them free reign.
It’s time to exercise our rights as sons and daughters of God church! Release blessing on your world today and the world of the people around you. And bind that which would stand against you and the kingdom of God.
Let’s do it!
